The existing kitchen was in good condition, but not up to the owners big, bright ideas. They desired a fun, light filled space where the Olympic Mountain views could be captured along with many family memories. The result was a functional bright space with a beautiful balance of color and white. In order to open up this mid century modern home, a wall was removed between the kitchen and the dining room. The cabinetry layout was modified to maximize views and entertaining, and a built-in breakfast nook was created where an old gas stove used to be. 24′-0″ of new sliding doors lead out to a west facing revamped deck fit with new infinity edge railings. New doors on the opposite end of the kitchen were added for light and cross ventilation. In addition, two new windows added much needed light to the space. Finally the custom maple cabinetry was carefully considered with a fun color palette that reflects the owners style. The owners were environmentally sensitive, using low VOC paint, reusing and resurfacing the existing wood floors with a water-based finish. New insulation was added along with energy efficient doors and windows. The existing appliances were kept including the recently purchased refrigerator and the gas range. The owners chose countertops by Ceasarstone and custom maple cabinetry by Sound Woodworks Inc.
