Project Description:
The owners of this Ballard home wanted to maximize the use of their large north facing back yard while capturing as much sun as possible. The plan included an entertaining/dining space, a place for relaxing in the sun, room for their dog to run, and a sunny spot for their food to grow. The final result was a yard that accommodates all of their needs in a modern and creative way. The deck pulls out just far enough into the yard to capture the evening sun; the vegetable garden consists of large corrugated culverts set atop a long stretch of smooth rock allowing the gardening to be clean, neat and back-pain free with every plant in arms reach. The lush green grass is offset by the warm wood deck creating two distinct spaces and the modern look is completed with minimal plantings and carefully chosen pots.
