Project Description:
Tightly pinned between the house and the public sidewalk, this under-utilized 300 square foot front yard space on a small Seattle urban lot was transformed with a modern take on a traditional Japanese rock garden. The homeowners gained much-needed privacy by installing a border of Corten steel planter boxes filled with perennial grass plantings that acts as an interactive buffer from the street. To ensure easy upkeep, drought-tolerant plants were used to complete the minimal landscaping.
